Discovery and Development
The very first documentation of fireworks dates back to 7th century China, where they originated. Fireworks were also called "Chinese Flowers" because when they exploded in the air they looked like flowers. Aerial fireworks usually provide their own propulsion method, or they are shot into the air by an aerial shell. The most common feature of a firework is a paper or pasteboard tube or casing filled with the combustable material, which, in Ancient China, would have been the black powder, but nowadays is usually pirotechnic stars. A number of the tubes/cases are often combine to create a great variety of sparkling shapes in many different colours.
